USEF affiliate. The SWSL is a non-profit corporation founded to promote and oversee equestrian competition involving riders in grades 7 through 12. It will host four USEF licensed shows per school year and offer saddle seat and western disciplines in four skill levels. The purpose of the Saddleseat and Western School League competition is to provide team recognition for Junior and Senior high school students who are involved in saddle seat and western riding programs and to promote the sport as an interscholastic team activity.
The SWSL encourages the development of superior riding skills and develops athletes for regional and national competitions in equestrian sports.
Grade 9-12 equestrian athletes who participate in the SWSL horse shows have the opportunity to earn the "USEF Varsity Letter" emblem and pin.
