J&M Acres, located in Maple Ridge, BC, began in 1995 with the rescue of a badly abused, old horse, dubbed "Lucky", that was being run through the auction for slaughter.

Since then, we have purchased over 300 horses destined for slaughter and placed them in good homes. We have all breeds of horses and all ages, from 6 months to 36 years old, that have gone on to live happy, productive lives.

Unlike other horse rescues, J&M is not a retirement home. At J&M Acres, our aim is to get as many horses as possible off the meat truck and into good homes.

Most of our horses come from racetracks and auctions. We do our best to bring home as many horses as possible that we can work with in order to give better lives to them.

Journeys End is home to animals large and small which were abused, neglected, unwanted, and at the risk of euthanasia or slaughter. Here, they get the care and love they need to heal and live out their lives in peace and comfort. We are located in Arizona's high desert. The sole caretaker is a disabled Veterinary Technician who, despite her health challenges, has been caring for these animals for years with her own disability income. We provide a safe home for mustangs and burros, and also for dogs and one little pig.

We are a little ranch in Vilna, Alberta. For about 4 years, we've been rescuing horses that have been mistreated, neglected, left on their own, misfed, or simply that were never handled. We also receive horses that are green, which means that they were never handled; therefore, they received no regular care like deworming, trims, etc. We give them the time that they need to trust and respect humans. Afterward, when the horse is ready to leave, we choose a proper household which has been selected with specific criteria. All of our clients have to sign a adoption contract that makes sure that the animal will be taken care of.

Lifetime Equine Refuge is the equine rescue and sanctuary program under Wild For Life Foundation (WFLF), a 501c3 nonprofit charity dedicated to saving, protecting and preserving wild and domestic equines. We save lives and provide a second chance to horses in need through rescue, sanctuary, adoption, foster, equine assisted learning, and humane education.
