Hooves are very complex structures. There is a balance between the horse and nature, and I strive to achieve this balance with each trim.

I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's in Animal Science and Nutrition. I studied the physiology and anatomy of horses while I worked for the university horse farm. I also studied their diets and how they affect bone growth, reproduction, performance, blood sugar levels, and attitudes. During this time, I became a certified barefoot trimmer with emphasis on navicular and founder rehab through Ida Hammer studying the methods of Pete Ramey. During my apprenticeship, I trimmed over 3,000 hooves, covering all types of lameness.

The keys to success with barefoot horses are diet, environment, exercise, and hoof care. I can help choose a diet specific to individual horses needs, create a healthy environment that encourages movement, and help bring out the naturally tough hooves horses were meant to have with my trims. I also offer trail boots and glue on boots for events, trail rides, and rehabs.

Liberty Prairie Farm is a natural boarding farm with access to natural foot care and treeless saddle fitters.

Did you know the average cost to care for one horse annually is over $2,000? Happy Hooves Equine Rescue currently cares for more than 25 abandoned and abused horses. With dental & chiropractic care, good nutrition and lots of love from the Liberty Prairie Farm youth club members and volunteers; horses live the life they deserve by teaching others how to ride and care for horses properly. We need your support to care for these and many more horses.

For a minimal $5 donation, enjoy a pony ride on Sundays, throughout the summer, from 12 – 4 PM. Come prepared to ride with closed-toed shoes. Food, beverages and t-shirts are also available for purchase.

Know a young horse lover? The horse camps are perfect for kids who are absolutely horse crazy. At Liberty Prairie Farm horse camp you will spend the majority of your time riding and playing with the horses, all the while learning how to care, feed and groom them. All ages and skills are welcome.

Planning a birthday or pony party, or scouting event? Come to Liberty Prairie Farms for an hour of food and/or presents and another 1– 1-1/2 hours of games and riding or a 2 and a half hour party. See website for current prices and event dates.

All proceeds go to Happy Hooves Equine Rescue at Liberty Prairie Farm.
